Next church-wide volunteer event!

The next church-wide group volunteer event will be at the Jacob Riis Settlement House at Queensbridge Houses, helping with their annual Multicultural Day. Volunteers are needed for March 5 and 6 from 6-7pm for setup, and then on March 7 from 5-9pm for helping with activities and cleanup. Signup sheets will be available in the lobby for the next three Sundays and at the potluck on the 22nd. Parents with children ages 6 and older are welcome to sign up. How People Change Class

Starting February 23: This class delves into the truth of the gospel and scripture and applies it to the messiness of living in a fallen world. You will come face to face with your own heart, examine the fruit of your life in Christ and grow in love for others. Sundays, 1:30-3:30 at the Astoria Church office (35-20 Broadway, 4th Fl, Long Island City, NY 11106) for 12 weeks (except Easter 4/20), ending on May 18. Workbook cost is $20. Volunteer Training Workshop

Save the Date for the Neighborhood Justice and Mercy Ministry (NJ&MM) volunteer training workshop on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 from 9AM-12PM at the QPC church offices. RSVP to volunteer@astoriachurch.org. Childcare will be provided and a light breakfast will be served. Come learn about our vision for serving our neighbors, the theology of mercy and justice, practical helping skills, cultural issues and our partner organizations. This new ministry focuses on equipping our church to meet the practical needs of our neighborhoods and providing venues for us to meet those needs.
