The nursery ministers to families by watching carefully after the safety and spiritual nurture of babies to three-year-olds during the Sunday morning worship services. We offer a babies–2s class and a Pre-K class. It is our privilege to care for your child.
What We Are Learning This Week
Be sure to talk to your child about what he or she will be learning for the upcoming week. The lesson material for next Sunday is below. Practice the Lord's Prayer, Apostle's Creed, and worship song with your child at home!
"God Sends His Son" December 8, 2013
Memory Verse: So God has brought one of David’s descendants to Israel to be their Savior. That descendant is Jesus. And God promised to do this.” Acts 13:23
The Lord's Prayer: “Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.”
Doxology: “Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him all creatures here below; praise him above, ye heavenly host; praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.”
Worship Song: “Away in a Manger”
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
the little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.
The stars in the sky looked down where he lay,
the little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.
Apostle's Creed: “I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only, son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.”
Bible Story: "Baby Jesus and the Good News" (Matthew 1:20-21, 24; Luke 1:26-38 2:8-18)
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." - Deuteronomy 6:4–7 (NIV)
Staff: The ACC nursery is a parent co-op and is staffed primarily by parent volunteers, as well as other volunteers from the congregation. In addition to being approved by the nursery director, each volunteer has also had a police background check. Only approved nursery workers/volunteers or parents are allowed to be in the nursery.
Location: The nursery is located on the second floor of the synagogue. From the lobby take the stairway to the right.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up: Drop-off times begin at 9:30 and 11:00. The nursery is closed until then so the volunteers can thoroughly prepare the classrooms. Please pick up your child immediately after the service. (You are welcome to drop off and pick up your child at any time during the service.) Only a child’s caregiver is permitted to drop off and pick up the child. You are welcome to stay with your child to help ease the transition, if necessary.
Personal Belongings: Make sure all belongings left in the nursery are clearly marked with your child’s name. Due to allergies, nursery workers are not permitted to give your child any food or drink other than water. If your child needs to be fed, please see to that before leaving the nursery
Diapers and Bathrooms: Our staff does not change diapers. If your child’s diaper is dirty, we will text you. Please keep your phone on vibrate so that we can reach you if needed. Similarly, we do not take children to the bathroom unless they indicate a need. Please have your child use the bathroom before coming to the nursery.
Illness: Please keep your child with you if he or she is showing signs or symptoms of illness. Please follow the 24-hour rule if your child has been vomiting or has had fever.
Curriculum: We implement a Bible curriculum in the Pre-K class that includes a Bible story and a related art activity. Be sure to talk to your child about what he or she is learning!
