Devotional exercises: The triune nature of God

Read: John 1:1-18
Reflect:
1. To whom is John referring when he refers to “the Word”?
2. Where in this passage do you see that the Word (i.e. the Son) is a divine being?
3. Where do you see the Word (the Son) described as a distinct Person from God the Father?
4. For what purpose did the Word become flesh?
5. Pause and meditate on passage. List 5-10 truths from this passage that give us reason to praise God.

Read: John 16:5-15
Reflect:
1. What does Jesus say the Holy Spirit will do for the world (vv. 8-11)?
2. What will the Spirit do for the Church (vv. 12-14)?
3. In verse 7, Jesus says that it is better for us to have the Holy Spirit than to have Christ present physically with us. Why do you think he said this?
4. Pray for the Holy Spirit to bring glory to the Son by making the things of Christ more real to you.
